| Victor Osimhen on Galatasaray Jersey - Naija Football Daily |
Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is a major doubt for Saturday's Turkish Super Lig clash against Trabzonspor at Papara Park, despite his eagerness to play.
According to reports from Turkish journalist Kaya Temel, the Nigerian international is pushing to be involved, but the club's technical staff and medical team do not support an early return. He does not want to risk a setback before full recovery, though he may be included in the expanded squad for the trip to the Black Sea region.
Osimhen sustained the injury in the 33rd minute of Galatasaray's 3-2 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir last Friday and was forced off. The club confirmed he underwent MRI scans which revealed a moderate to advanced level strain with bleeding in the groin area and said treatment had begun.
The injury is expected to keep him out for about three weeks, ruling him out of the club's next three fixtures across all competitions, including the Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon and the league games against Kocaelispor and Trabzonspor.
Galatasaray are taking a cautious approach to avoid aggravating the problem. The club is prioritizing a full recovery during the upcoming international break rather than risking him in Trabzon.
The timeline means he will miss the Champions League opener against Sporting, with a return targeted for the second league-phase game when Barcelona visit Istanbul on October 13. Trabzonspor face a similar concern, as their striker Paul Onuachu was also forced off with a muscle strain during their 5-0 win over Genclerbirligi and has been ruled out of the encounter.
