Nigerian striker Akor Adams has expressed support for the inclusion of new players in the Super Eagles squad preparing for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
Speaking in an interview with media in the team’s camp in Akwa Ibom State on Thursday, the Venezia forward said the arrival of fresh faces who are performing well at club level will strengthen the national team. Adams, who featured for Nigeria in high-profile friendlies earlier this year, noted that it is good to see players earning opportunities based on their form.
The new invitees include Alverca left-back Isaac James, LASK forward Moses Usor and Al-Ittihad striker George Ilenikhena, all receiving their first senior call-ups under head coach Eric Chelle.
Adams stated that the coach has made it clear any player selected deserves a place in the squad and that the group is happy to welcome them. He added that the overall aim is improvement for the team.
Adams also spoke about the importance of the upcoming fixtures, saying successful qualification is the starting point for the team’s broader ambitions on the continent. He encouraged supporters to remain optimistic and turn out in strong numbers to back the side.
The striker, who contributed goal involvements during Nigeria’s campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, confirmed he is pleased to reunite with his teammates as preparations continue in camp.
