Guinea-Bissau produced a decisive 3-0 victory over Nigeria on Tuesday in Bissau during the second matchday of Group L in 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.

Franculino Djú opened the scoring in the 15th minute at the Estádio 24 de Setembro. Mama Baldé extended the lead in the 66th minute before substitute Álvaro Djaló added a third goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time. The result left the home side with a clean sheet against the Super Eagles, who created chances but failed to convert them.

Both teams entered the fixture with three points from their opening matches. Guinea-Bissau had defeated co-hosts Tanzania 2-0 away, while Nigeria came from behind to beat Madagascar 2-1 at home.

Tanzania already hold a place at the 2027 finals as one of three co-hosts, meaning only the top side among Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau and Madagascar will secure the remaining qualification spot from the group. Nigeria travelled without striker Victor Osimhen, who continues to recover from a groin injury.

The win lifts Guinea-Bissau to six points and clear leadership of Group L after two matches. Nigeria remain on three points and drop to second. The Super Eagles, coached by Eric Chelle, now face a tighter path to the finals as qualifying continues later in the year.
