Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus placed Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen alongside Erling Haaland as the strongest players in the world inside the penalty area. 

He made the remarks during a pre-match press conference on Saturday, 26 September 2026, ahead of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League fixture against Norway.

The match took place the following day at Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo. Jesus was asked about the threat posed by Haaland, the Manchester City forward who leads Norway’s attack. In response, he said Haaland is the most physically and technically powerful player inside the box. He added that outside the area the Norwegian is less dominant despite his pace, but inside the box Haaland and Osimhen stand as the strongest in the world for him.

Portugal went on to win the match 2-1, with Haaland scoring Norway’s only goal. The comments came as Jesus prepared his side for the second group-stage encounter of the tournament.
