Super Eagles coach Éric Chelle smiles at Moses Simon during the post-match press conference after Simon’s 100th Nigeria cap against Madagascar in Uyo

Moses Simon reached his 100th appearance for Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Friday when he entered as a substitute in the 61st minute of a 2-1 win over Madagascar.

The Paris FC winger joined an exclusive group of five Nigerian players to hit the century mark, following Ahmed Musa, Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo and Alex Iwobi. After the game he received a commemorative framed jersey marking the occasion.

At the post-match press conference an interviewer congratulated Simon on the milestone and asked how many more caps he expected.

Simon replied, “I don’t know, God decide and the coach decide.” Sitting beside him, Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle reacted with a raised eyebrow and the Yoruba phrase “makobami o,” drawing laughter from those present. Simon then switched to French as the two continued the exchange in lighter fashion.

Simon, who made his senior debut for Nigeria in March 2015, has now completed more than a decade with the national team. He has scored 12 goals across his 100 appearances.
