Nigerian winger Taiwo Alao has completed a permanent move from Sporting Lagos to Brazilian Serie A side Atletico Clube Mineiro.
The transfer, finalized in September 2026, takes the highly rated attacker from the Nigeria Premier Football League to Belo Horizonte, home of one of Brazil's biggest clubs. Alao, born in 2008, is regarded as one of the top emerging talents from the Sporting Lagos system and will begin his time in Brazil within the club's developmental structure.
The deal is reported to be a permanent transfer with a contract running until 2029. Alao developed at Sporting Lagos and gained senior experience on loan at Ikorodu City in the Nigerian league. During his time at Ikorodu City, he established a reputation as a skilful, tricky left-sided attacker known for his pace, dribbling and ability to create chances.
At Atletico, Alao will initially join the club's Under-20 squad. The arrangement provides a clear pathway for integration, with the potential for rapid promotion to the first team depending on his development.
