Nigeria star Ademola Lookman smiling in Atletico Madrid training kit during LaLiga media day in Madrid

Atletico Madrid forward Ademola Lookman has spoken about adapting to life in Spain following his move from Italy. The Nigeria international joined Atletico from Atalanta on Feb 2, 2026, signing until June 30, 2030, in a deal reported at €35 million plus €5 million in add-ons. The comments came in an exclusive interview with SportyTV recorded in Madrid ahead of the Madrid derby.

During an interview with SportyTV journalist Alex Ashmore, Lookman was asked how he is settling. "It's going well. I think adapting bit by bit, trying to learn... but yeah just um, just trying to do my best," he said. Ashmore briefly switched to Spanish to ask "¿Y qué tal va?" prompting Lookman to smile as he finished his answer.

Lookman said coming into a new environment is never easy and has credited teammates and coaching staff for helping him settle.

The interview was conducted by Ashmore, a broadcast journalist and reporter for SportyTV based in Madrid who presents the SportyShow and sits down with Atletico Madrid players ahead of major matches.
