Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has said he is prepared to pass on his experience and provide leadership to the new players in Nigeria’s squad.

Speaking in camp on Thursday, the Paris FC forward, who sits on 99 international caps, recalled the moment he first received his national team call-up more than a decade ago. He stressed that the newcomers need confidence and support, describing them as the side's future.

Simon’s comments come as head coach Eric Chelle has invited several first-time seniors, including George Ilenikhena, Moses Usor and Isaac James, for the opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The 31-year-old made the remarks while the team continues preparations in Uyo ahead of Friday’s home fixture against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. The Nigeria Football Federation has already arranged to honour Simon if he features in the match, marking his 100th appearance for the national team.

Since his debut in March 2015, he has scored 12 goals and featured regularly across multiple coaching regimes and major tournaments. As one of the more senior members of the current group, he said he was willing to help the fresh faces settle and contribute on the pitch.

Nigeria begins its qualifying campaign with the Madagascar encounter, followed by a trip to face Guinea-Bissau. Simon’s message of guidance aligns with the squad’s efforts to blend experienced players such as Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi and Ademola Lookman with the recent additions.
