Moses Simon reached a major milestone for Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Friday, September 25, 2026, when he earned his 100th senior international cap during a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.

The match took place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, where Nigeria secured a 2-1 victory to open their qualifying campaign. Simon, a winger currently with Paris FC, entered the game with 99 appearances and 12 goals for the national team.

He made his Super Eagles debut on March 25, 2015, against Uganda under interim coach Daniel Amokachi and has remained a regular presence across more than a decade of international football.

The Nigeria Football Federation had announced plans in advance to honour Simon if he featured against Madagascar. Acting General Secretary Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme praised the player’s commitment, describing him as a dedicated and passionate servant of the national team.

Across his previous 99 matches, Nigeria recorded 49 wins, 30 draws and 20 defeats with Simon involved. Those appearances include 64 competitive games and 35 friendlies, among them 23 matches at AFCON finals and 22 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

With the 100th cap, Simon becomes only the fifth Nigerian player to reach the landmark. He joins Ahmed Musa, Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo and Alex Iwobi in the exclusive group.
