| Super Eagles goalkeeper Nwabali arrived at the Uyo sports stadium |
Stanley Nwabali has arrived at the Super Eagles camp in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, joining preparations for Nigeria’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.
The Chippa United goalkeeper reported on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, raising the number of players in camp to 21. He linked up with the squad at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel base ahead of the team’s first training session under head coach Éric Chelle at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Nwabali trained alongside Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo during the evening session under floodlights.
Maduka Okoye of Udinese remains the only invited goalkeeper yet to arrive. The session marked Chelle’s first full group work with the bulk of the senior squad since the previous international window. Nigeria will host Madagascar at the same Uyo stadium on Friday, 25 September, before travelling to face Guinea-Bissau four days later.
This is Nwabali’s first Super Eagles camp appearance since the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations third-place play-off against Egypt in January, when he saved penalties in a 4-2 shootout win.
He was named in Chelle’s 24-man squad for the current qualifiers after earlier absences from recent national team duties.
